Moisture-proof sea freight for solar equipment
Solar equipment damaged by humidity at sea, over RMB 100k claimed per container, crate weight inflating freight
Packaging cost per container -27%
Outer crate removed, integrated packaging
The client builds solar inverters and battery cabinets, exporting to Europe by sea.
What they used: wooden crates with desiccant bags. Over forty days at sea the day-night temperature swing condensed moisture inside the crate, and bags only held it back for a while; claims ran over RMB 100k per container; crate weight then pushed freight costs up again.
What we changed: seven-ply moisture-resistant coated board for the box, aluminium foil laminate lining, and reusable desiccant cassettes. The outer crate is gone — the box is the shipping packaging and the warehouse tote at the same time.
Result: sea-freight scrapping eliminated, packaging cost per container down 27%, line-ready on opening at destination.
